Síor Consulting Australia Pty Ltd. (Síor) was contracted to support the development and finalisation of the Guildford Grammar School (GGS) Campus Master Plan, focusing on hydrology and geology. The project included baseline assessments, hydrological and geological optioneering, and development strategies to promote sustainable and flood-resilient infrastructure on the 74-hectare site.
The project aimed to address key hydrological and geological aspects to support sustainable development planning, which included:
- Establishing baseline site characteristics, including topography, rainfall, groundwater, and surface water interactions.
- Identifying design constraints, such as flood risks and groundwater-level challenges.
- Assessing development opportunities while ensuring alignment with local planning and environmental regulations.
- Outlining regulatory approval processes, focusing on compliance with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation, and Attractions (DBCA), Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), and the City of Swan.
- Developed baseline assessments, including topographical mapping and analysis of floodplain characteristics using advanced datasets like LiDAR and GIS tools.
- Conducted optioneering assessments, including elevated structures, floodplain-compatible land uses, and stormwater management strategies.
- Proposed sustainable land use solutions, such as integrating water farming and vegetation restoration for floodplain resilience and incorporating Aboriginal cultural practices into site planning.
- Outlined detailed regulatory pathways to obtain planning approvals, including hydrological and geotechnical assessments, flood risk mitigation measures, and stakeholder consultations.
