Michael holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours (Geology) from the University of Melbourne and a Master of Science (Hydrogeology) from the University of Birmingham. Since graduating Michael has spent over 5 years in the West Australian mining sector managing water resources projects from exploration through to bore construction, licensing, monitoring and data management.
The success of these projects has largely been a result of implementation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to analyse a wide variety of available data and the development of bespoke automated databases, primarily using VBA in Excel, to generate all manner of inputs for reporting and management purposes.
